Every laundry service quotes a per-pound rate. Almost nobody tells you what your laundry weighs, what the minimum does to small orders, or which fees get bolted on later. Let's fix that.
Step 1: What does laundry actually weigh?
Rules of thumb that hold up in practice: a standard bathroom hamper filled to the top is about 10 lbs. A week of laundry for one adult runs 8–12 lbs. A couple generates 15–20 lbs. A family of four produces 30–40 lbs — more during sports seasons. A queen comforter counts as an oversized item and is priced flat, not by weight.
Step 2: The going rates in 2026
Across the industry: gig apps run $1–$2/lb depending on speed and market. Laundromat delivery typically lands at $1.50–$2.50/lb once delivery fees are included.
